Florida’s “Stop WOKE Act”
EX PerspectiveFlorida House Bill 7 (“HB7,” “the Act,” or “The Stop WOKE Act”) went into effect on July 1, 2022. This law, commonly referred to as the “Stop WOKE Act,” is intended to increase employer liability for discriminatory employment practices under the Florida Civil Rights Act. Specifically, HB7 imposes increased liability on employers who conduct workplace training that “promotes, advances, insinuates, or compels” employees to believe certain concepts constitute unlawful discrimination.
Following a number of questions from customers and prospects about the controversial Florida law known as the “Stop WOKE Act,” Syntrio has prepared the following primer on the Florida law so that our customers and prospects can understand what the law is, how it applies, are in compliance.
