STop the Interaction
The first step in bystander intervention is to assess the safety of the situation. If it is safe to do so, politely but firmly intervene to stop the interaction.
Alert Others
Seek support from others in the vicinity to de-escalate the situation. Inform colleagues, supervisors, or security personnel about the incident, ensuring that the targeted person feels safe and supported.
Redirect Attention
Distract the aggressor or disrupt the situation by diverting attention elsewhere. Engage the aggressor in conversation, offer assistance, or suggest a change of activity to de-escalate the situation.
Support the Targeted Person
After the incident, check in with the targeted person to ensure their well-being. Offer emotional support, listen attentively to their concerns, and connect them with appropriate resources if needed.

Campus Aware: Sexual Violence Prevention
Domestic, dating and sexual violence are problems on many college campuses. It is estimated that 1 in 5 college females will experience some form of sexual abuse during her college career. Men can also be victims. More often than not, sexual assault is perpetrated by someone known to the victim. This program is intended to raise awareness of these issues and help reduce the incidence of violence within the campus community.
